Nest box footage on display at Tweed Valley Osprey Watch centres

At the Osprey Watch centres at Kailzie Gardens and Glentress Forest, a range of species' nest boxes have been set up with cameras to track their progress.
Throughout the summer, there will be regular updates of both live and recorded footage from all the nest boxes, available at the centres. We will also be posting regular updates on this site, tracking the progress at each of the nest boxes.
13th May
The owl box footage has revealed that the three chicks are growing fast and this is available to see at the centres.
The great tit chicks are due to hatch on the 14th/15th and there is a live camera in place waiting for this to happen. They are synchronised so that they are incubated to hatch at the same time as each other. With such a large brood, this survival strategy helps the parents so that all the chicks develop at the same time and fledge at the same time.
The swallows have been a bit sneaky and instead of nesting on the starter nest, which has the camera pointing at it, they have built a brand new nest on top of the security light! The team at Kailzie Gardens will be able to swap the cameras and live pictures of the birds will become available shortly.
To witness this incredible footage why not pay a visit? Kaikzie Gardens is situated B7062, 2 miles east of Peebles. The Glentress Forest centre can be found 2 miles east of Peebles on the A72. Both centres are open from 10am to 5pm daily. For more information, contact 0845 367 3787.
