Summer events at RSPB reserves

RSPB RSPB Summer Events RSPB reserves offer a great day out for all the family. This summer sees a wealth of events taking place around the country. From guided walks to spotting rare birds, there is something to keep all the family happy.

Below are some events that will make sure that it will be a fun filled summer:

May

8 May - Guided walk at The Oa
Come and see which birds have arrived at the RSPB's reserve at The Oa.
Time: 10am-1pm.
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

24 May - Evening walk at Loch Gruinart
Evening is one of the best times to spot some of the reserve's special wildlife. Visit for guided walk around the reserve, followed by cheese and wine in the visitor centre.
Time: 7pm-9pm.
Cost: £4 per person.

June

5 June - Life by the sea
Eind our more about coastal living on this guided walk around the Oa.
Time: 10am-1pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

19 June - Chough walk
Take a guided walk around the Oa to see if you can spot this rare bird.
Time: 10am-1pm.
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

July

7 July - Family Fun Day at Loch Gruinart
A great day out on the reserve, with games and activities for the whole family.
Time: 1pm - 4pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

17 July - Goats and golden eagles
See if you can spot these wonderful creatures as you walk around the Oa.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

26 July - Walk on the wild side
Visit the reserve for a walk alongside Loch Gruinart.
Time: 2pm - 4pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

August

21 Aug- Guided walk
This guided walk will lead you around the Mull of Oa.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

7 Aug - Bugs and beasties
Come and meet some of Scotland's minibeasts at the Oa.
Time: 10am - 1pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

23 Aug - Bat-tastic
Visit the reserve for a tour to spot bats around Loch Gruinart, followed by refreshments in the visitor centre.
Time: 8pm
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

September 4 Sept - Birds of Prey
Islay is home to many birds of prey including peregrines, golden eagles and hen harriers. Visit the Oa to see if you can spot any of them.
Time: 10am-1pm.
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.

16 Sept - Jazz festival
A guided walk is followed by a jazz concert at the Loch Gruinart visitor centre.
Time: Walk at 11am, concert at 12 noon.
Cost: tbc

18 Sept - Farmland finches and falcons
Come and look for these birds on a guided walk around the Oa.
Time: 10am-1pm.
Cost: £1 RSPB members, £2 non-members.
